This week's pick is Notes From the Midnight Driver by Jordan Sonnenblick (YA SONNENBLICK).
Alex is in a bit of a predicament. Due to his frustration over his parents' divorce and his dad's lack of communication, he decides to have it out with him one night and ends up running over a garden gnome instead. Sentenced to hours and hours of community service, Alex is sent to the local nursing home to hang out with Solomon Lewis, easily the most irritable resident there. But will the judge let Alex hang out with someone a bit more reasonable? And will Alex's best friend Laurie ever notice he has a bit of a crush on her. As far as Alex can tell, absolutely not on both counts.
