This week's pick is Lemonade Mouth by Mark Peter Hughes (YA HUGHES).
5 high school misfits ...
Wen: An unfortunate mishap during a class presentation has the entire school laughing at him.
Stella: This rebel with a cause is continually silenced with detention.
Charlie: A misplaced spitball and the voice of a dead twin brother in his ear leaves Charlie with few opportunities to achieve coolness.
Mo: Mo has her life completely planned out, but a boyfriend from the popular crowd doesn’t help the situation.
Olivia: A shy transfer from an alternative school, Olivia’s only crime is skipping class to avoid regurgitating “important points” of her favorite book on a pop quiz.
An eccentric music teacher ...
Only Mrs. Reznik thought they had a shot at anything more than making idiots out of themselves. Banished to the basement after the music program experienced major funding cuts, Mrs. Reznik refuses to allow both herself and Lemonade Mouth to be sidelined.
And a jingle on the radio.
It was a chance incident. Mrs. Reznik had stepped outside the room when it happened. But somehow, Wen’s trumpet, Stella’s encounter with a ukelele, Charlie’s drumming instincts, Mo’s bass, and Olivia’s voice came together in a way nobody could have imagined.
